Breton, cartoonist and storyteller, Mark Gleonec was born in the mid-20th century in Fouesnant, a town famous for its cider.
It is quite natural that he is involved in the adventure of the PDO Cornouaille, a cider that made the daily life of his village.
In 1992, he published Le guide du cidre de Cornouaille (out of print) and then leads workshops around cider and participates in many cider competitions. In 2012 he published Contes et histoire du Pays du cidre (out of print) and collaborated in the organization of the Fouesnant cider contest, more than 100 years old. In 2014, he devoted himself to apples and cider and became President of the Cidref, which includes Cornouaille cider-makers. He conducts an important work of observation on the old varieties in collection at the Patrimonial Orchard of Penfoulig in Fouesnant. In 2019, he published Pommes et cidre de Cornouaille (Locus Solus Editeur).
A frequent traveller and tireless promoter of the world’s ciders, Mark Gleonec feeds a website with chronicles of apples and ciders and is a member of the international jury of CiderWorld award.
