The unique combination of scientific analysis and international jury expertise.

The Geisenheim University, scientific partner of the CiderWorld Awards, is one of the world’s leading universities in the field of beverage technology. All submitted products will be analysed at the Institute for Beverage Research at Geisenheim University.

An international jury of experts tastes and evaluates all products according to the proven CiderWorld 120-point scheme. Country-specific and regional typicity are taken into evaluation by the jury.

I. Cider – still

Cider & cidre with lower alcohol (2-4,5%vol.)

II. Cider – sparkling
Sparkling cider | sidra espumosa | sidro frizzante & spumante

III. Perry & Flavoured Cider – still
Perry | poiré (méthode ascentral)
Perry- & cider mixed with other fruits
Perry- & cider flavoured with hops, spices etc.

IV. Perry & Flavoured Cider – sparkling
Sparkling perry | poiré (méthode Charmat & Champagnoise)
Sparkling perry & cider mixed with other fruits

V. Ice Cider
Cidre de glace | ice cider
Dessert wine of apple, pear or quince Sherry or Port style
Cider & perry with higher alcohol (>8% vol.)

VI. Non-Alcoholic
Non-alcoholic cider- & perry
Carbonated juice of apple, pear and quince
Carbonated juice of apple, pear and quince (min. 50%) mixed with juice of other fruits

VII. Brandy
Fruit brandy from 100% apple, pear or quince or mixture of these three fruits
Brandy distilled from cider or perry

CiderWorld-120-Points-Scheme

The evaluation criteria and categories were determined by an international jury of experts in 2018. Country-specific, regional characteristics of the products are addressed. The sensory test is evaluated according to the CiderWorld 120-point scheme

Gold | 109 – 120 points
Silver | 97 – 108 points
Honor | 80 – 96 points

CiderWorld Medal

Special award for the best product in each category. (minimum 109 points)
