The Zapiain surname has been linked to the production of sagardoa since at least the 16th century, at the height of the Basque cider production boom. This growth occurred in tandem with the development of whaling, considered a pioneering industry in the Basque Country.

Quality management and food safety are two other fundamental pillars of our winery. It is no coincidence that Zapiain has driven the improvement of the sector in recent decades, actively contributing to the establishment of the Gorenak quality certificate and subsequently to the launch of the Euskal Sagardoa designation of origin.
