The Zapiain family has been linked to the production of cider since at least the 16th century, as evidenced by several documents dated in the years 1541 and 1595. Today, Zapiain is one of the leading exponents of the cider industry in the Basque Country from a firm commitment to quality, combining innovation and tradition.
With a production of approximately one million liters per year, Zapiain elaborates natural cider under the Gorenak quality mark as well as within the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin, promoting the recovery of apple orchards and Basque native varieties. The entire process is carried out under IFS Food and ISO 9001 standards.
Likewise, this cider house has made a commitment to diversification, creating new products such as the single variety Bizi-Goxo ice cider or the Sagardoz apple spirits, among others.
Among the Basque cider brands, Zapiain has a large presence and worldwide projection, whose products have been awarded in numerous international contests. This year, both the Euskal Sagardoa Premium natural cider and the Bizi-Goxo ice cider have received the gold medal at Cider World Frankfurt, ranking at the top of the respective categories with a very high score.
